BAIUST Library
The library is the gateway to knowledge. BAIUST Library provides up-to-date services to the students, faculty, officers, and staff members of BAIUST. Library resources are systematically arranged by the Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC) Scheme.

At present, the collection of books stands above 15000 and e-books 3500. Most of the BAIUST library collections are closely related to the programs the University offers.

NB: The library remains closed on public holidays and other dates announced by the University Authority.
MEMBERSHIP PROCEDURES
The membership form is available at the library circulation desk. One has to provide two copies of passport-size photographs, an e-mail address, a contact number, and other personal details to be a library member.
LOAN PRIVILEGES
- A student may borrow up to three books for
fourteen days.
- Confined and Reference books are generally
for in-library use only.
- Thesis, Dissertations, and Internship Reports
are for in-library use only.
LOCATING BOOKS
Search for books or other reading materials may be done through online web-OPAC (opac.baiust.ac.bd). OPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue) is an online database of the resources and materials held by the library. It is possible to search independently by Keyword, Title, Author, Subject, ISBN, Series, Call Number, etc.
BORROWING SYSTEMS
- A student may borrow library resources at any one time for a maximum of fourteen days, and
resources may be renewed only for fourteen days.
- Library resources must be returned at the circulation desk during working hours only.
- Writing and using markers on books/materials (even by pencil) is forbidden. If done, it will be considered willful damage, and the individual concerned will be charged the total replacement cost up to 300% of the book’s current price as a fine.
- Borrowers are responsible for all books/reading materials issued to them and must pay double the current price of any book lost or damaged.
If the book is part of a set containing more than one volume, the borrower must pay for the whole set.
- If pages, illustrations/or pictures are missing at the time of return, the borrower will
be required to pay the cost of the whole book.
RENEWAL OF BOOKS
Items on loan may be renewed if no request is placed for those items. Renewals may be done in the following ways:
- Through online account login (http://opac.baiust.ac.bd). Users can easily check the items borrowed from the library on their name, due date, fine, etc., via OPAC account log-in.
- Presenting the items at the circulation desk.
OVERDUE FINE
If books are not returned in time, the individual concerned will charge a fine of TK 5.00 (Taka Five) per day per book (including holidays). In case of reference/confined item(s), a fine of TK 50.00 (Taka Fifty) will be charged for each item per day.
FEW INSTRUCTIONS FOR LIBRARY USERS
- Please maintain calm and quiet environment during your study in the library.
- Food and personal books are not allowed in the library.
- Gossiping, talking on the phone, Viewing or displaying explicit, offensive, or inappropriate content, and shifting chairs/ tables/ equipment from one place to another is prohibited.
- The library is a place for active reading and study. Sleeping in the library is not allowed.
- All personal bags, coats, jackets, briefcases, umbrellas, etc. (Except valuables, e.g., laptops, wallets, cell phones, etc.) must be kept on the shelves in front of the library.
- It is mandatory to follow the university dress code. Uniforms and ID cards are mandatory for all students. Individuals wearing jeans and T-shirts are not permitted to enter the library.
- Before leaving/receiving certificate from BAIUST, the student must have clearance from the library.
